Epoxy and Urethane Cement Coatings for Dairy Processing Facility
Peckham Coatings was contracted to install a high-performance flooring system for a dairy production facility, addressing issues of moisture intrusion, surface wear, and hygiene maintenance. The project included processing rooms, wash bays, and cold storage areas—all requiring durable, sanitary, and slip-resistant flooring solutions that can withstand heavy traffic, cleaning chemicals, and temperature fluctuations.
Surface preparation included full mechanical grinding and shot blasting to remove existing coatings and contaminants, followed by detailed crack repair and slope correction to ensure proper drainage. A urethane cement base was applied to create a seamless, moisture-tolerant foundation, followed by an industrial-grade epoxy coating designed for superior chemical resistance and easy cleaning. The final non-slip urethane topcoat provided additional durability and worker safety in wet environments.
To meet USDA and FDA compliance requirements, the flooring system was installed with integral cove base transitions and seamless terminations at drains and wall junctions. The result is a hygienic, low-maintenance surface capable of withstanding the harsh conditions of daily dairy production. The facility management team commended the project’s efficiency and the exceptional performance of the new flooring, noting improved safety and ease of sanitation.
