Protective Coating Solutions for Ski Resort Facilities

Location: California Sierra Region
Scope : Ski Lift Towers, Bases, and Equipment Structures
System: Industrial Epoxy Primer with Urethane Topcoat

Peckham Coatings was contracted to refurbish and protect multiple ski lift structures at a mountain resort. Years of exposure to snow, UV radiation, and fluctuating temperatures had caused corrosion and coating failure across the lift towers, bases, and mechanical housings. The goal of the project was to restore the metal surfaces, extend equipment lifespan, and improve the overall appearance of the resort’s lift system before the upcoming season.

Surface preparation involved thorough mechanical cleaning and sanding to remove rust, oxidation, and failing coatings, followed by detailed surface profiling to ensure proper adhesion. A high-performance epoxy primer was applied to provide corrosion resistance and adhesion to the steel substrate, followed by a durable urethane topcoat engineered for UV stability, gloss retention, and long-term protection against harsh alpine conditions.

The completed project delivered a clean, uniform, and weather-resistant finish that revitalized the resort’s lift infrastructure. The updated coating not only enhanced durability and longevity but also improved the visual presentation of the lift system—reflecting the resort’s commitment to quality and safety for guests and staff alike.
